Interesting. I had lost track of the V4 Venture and now I know why...it was discontinued a long time ago. I am guessing with a category of "transcontinental touring" and keeping the Vstar line, it would be trying to nibble at the Gold Wing somehow, either little smaller or a little bigger. Maybe a V6 or W6, smart emergency braking, stay within the lanes system, back up camera, auto parallel parking, and perhaps a slide out living room We'll see!

I have been here since almost the beginning and greatly respect the experience and advice here.

However, I have never once seen a discussion on the big BMW K bikes (GT/GTL/GTLE). There was a recent thread on the new B which looks a lot like the CTX. Other than the the fact they are expensive, what do y'all think of them?

I know a few riders from the ST forums who have K1600s. Yes, they are expensive. Yes they do have some pricey maintenance that must be done. The dealerships are far too scarce for me and I cannot afford the price in the first place. Other than that I consider them still in the Sport Touring class which really doesn't suite me like my CTX1300 does. Even with full dress touring luggage installed (which is how I've seen these bikes at moto camping trips). I just don't see enough to sway me to consider one for myself, but I can understand if others want a BMW bike (kind of like those who just have to drive a BMW cage).

My Cousin rides a BMW, Haven't talked to him in years........

"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.
And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind.

I paid $8,499 for my black standard. A full zoot K1600 is about 4 times as much money. Though I've never ridden one, I can't imagine it's 4 times as much bike. How could it be? And that fancy pants inline 6 just doesn't push the same aesthetic buttons that the big V-4 does.

Pricey ==> very. 2x hp and torque. Quick shifter, reverse gear, riding modes, OD 6th gear. I like riding all day --> since I am new to touring bikes, should it bother me that the tach is at 4,500 for hours on end when on a long trip?
