Radio

I have the base model and i don't have the radio. I was curious if any of You guys have purchased the radio? Do you regret the purchase and wish you would have purchased a good/greAt bluetooth helmet system instead.

So you have the Standard model. You'll get more with the BT headset for the money. The radio on the Deluxe models is really only the control head for a music source you provide and includes BT connectivity for devices and headsets. It does give you some nice features with showing the album and track and lets you control volume and what track is playing but it really is not a radio per se. Most of the time I was using my Sena headset since that has FM radio built in. Once in a big while I would play music that I have on a SD card plugged into the Audio system USB plug. Even that was output to my Sena headset. So if you don't already have the Audio system on the bike I wouldn't spend the money to add it. I had purchased the Deluxe mainly for the ABS/TC and the blacked out trim and really didn't care about having the Audio system, but it was a nice bonus since it was there just not what I would have added if it wasn't.

Others may likely have different opinions about that but this is mine.

I've often wondered if a good waterproof marine radio could be mounted to look halfway decent. As I understand it, you can not get a XM or whatever subscription without having the radio first. So for now it's 15 hrs of tunes on the iphone and bluetooth to the SENA headset.

I installed an aftermarket stereo using the stock speak grills etc, sounds great with the tall windshield I listen to it just fine all the way up to about 90mph

Personally I'd just get a Cardo or a Sena and bluetooth from my phone or GPS.
My set up is a Cardo Freecom 1+ ($89.95) with the JBL speaker upgrade ($89.95) bluetoothed to either my Garmin 396 or my phone.
The Garmin accepts a memory card for music, maps, etc. It also acts as a Pandora control for my phone.
As for choosing Cardo, it's personal preference. I never ride in a group and rarely haul anyone around so the Cardo 1+ works for me. It allows talk to the pillion but not bike to bike.
In a group you can step up to the Frecom 2+. I believe they are compatible with Sena networks, don't take my word for it though.

Yes the Cardo and Sena units talk to each other just fine. BTDT.
Other brands also.
