Fake spark plugs - is nothing safe anymore?

So, I recently changed the plugs in my CTX with a set of NGK plugs I bought off Amazon since none of the local auto parts places had the correct part, and then I see this article today: https://autoweek.com/article/diy/bew...might-be-fakes

Now I'm worried that I might have put some kind of garbage Chinese knockoffs in my bike. A while back, I had a scare from using a HiFlo oil filter, and now this. Sigh, I think I'm going to have to start flying to Japan once a year to pick up parts directly from Honda.

If fake networking gear can be done.. a simple spark plug should be no problem.

Yes, be very wary of ANY supposed brand name items from Amazon (and eBay and any other online megastore). Many are fake, even some that have Amazon as the vendor name. Amazon seems to have become a launderer of counterfeit products from around the world. Just read the reviews of almost everything and each has some negative reviews about fakes or low-quality items that fail early or aren't even the same product as advertised. If they promise you brand name genuine products and send you foreign counterfeits, send them back and complain! For vehicle parts if you need to order online use a reputable dealer's site that specializes in that brand of vehicle for best chance of getting a genuine product.
