I visited my local dealer this morning to have the 600 mile service done on the CTX. He had a new Red Deluxe in a badly damaged crate.

It came in yesterday, but he hasn't done anything with it while he sorts out the damage to the bike.

As much as I love my CTX and as much as I don't trust my Trophy, I'm tempted to see if I can trade the Trophy for the Red Deluxe. Owning two CTXs seems a bit stupid, but I've done dumber things.

What's wrong with that?
Other than you'll end up with two and I have none... yet.
I sometimes wish my wife was more interested in riding a bigger bike than her scooter. She does sometimes show a little interest in something bigger than the 50cc ride she has, but it's more for being able to keep up on the streets around our area that she often rides... 35-40 mph and traffic usually goes 5 over at least. She's just not so excited about taking written and riding tests to get the endorsement on her license. I can't convince her how easy both are especially on a scooter class bike. Would love to have 2 CTX1300, his and hers. That would be awesome! I know she could handle it. Just can't push her, it all has to be her idea.

One of the saddle bags was scuffed up. There was some damage under the bike as well.

That crate looked like it was designed by an accountant instead of an engineer.

The crate does not seem to have proper built-in support for the forks of the fork lift. Every time it is moved it is subjected to a risk of damage.

I think you're dead on there. I know the difference of an inch or two on personal sized items can cost much more to ship just through UPS and FedEx, I can only imagine the difference when you get to that scale. Somewhere in Tokyo is some engineer saying 'I TOLD them the crates were too small.'

I did not see the actual crates, but this would certainly explain why so many are getting damaged on the bottom side. What a shame.

Any progress on that pic?
