Been riding Harley for years seriously considering a ctx1300

Hello riders! I’m new to the forum and been riding a ultra classic for many years numerous Harley’s before that but the time has come where they are no longer comfortable to me been seriously considering a ctx1300 but I’m a big guy 6’2” 330lbs so I’m a little weary of the room on the ctx but I have scheduled a text ride on a 2014 tomorrow. Really enjoy the forum hopefully I’ll like it and be on to new adventures on a ctx1300 tomorrow

Welcome to the forum @Scarver .

There are several members here who are at least as tall and some just as big. They seem to find the right combination of farkles to make it work for them. I'm sure a few will post in here to tell all.

Plenty of room on the CTX and some members have provided highway peg mount options to help you stretch out. The power is rheostat smooth and the deluxe model (can still be had new for bargain basement prices: $6500-$8K) comes with standard traction control and ABS.

The front end suspension is stiff, no argument. But it does "wear in" and some very simple and inexpensive mods (lighter weight fork oil, removal of handlebar end weights, etc) do wonders for softening it.

Other than that it is a superbly balanced bike that is incredibly easy to handle at low speeds, and its powerplant will let you cruise all day at interstate speeds without complaint.

Enjoy your test ride.

If the CTX1300 won't fit you , the next in line is the new Goldwing ... the 2018 models are now discounted $5K

Welcome, Scarver!
I’m 6’0” and back in 2014 when I got my CTX I weighed about 350 pounds. I’ve since lost 80 pounds, and the bike just keeps getting more comfortable to me. As was stated above, the front shocks are a little stiff but they get better after a bit. You might want to make sure the preload on the back shocks are set at the stiffest setting. I recall mine being set at “1” at the dealership and it was pretty bouncy until I adjusted them. Good luck and let us know how your ride goes tomorrow!

It will take some getting used to "the style" coming from a V twin. The rumble, the sounds, they are different..... and sitting on it is way different.... but better than the Crotch rocket style that puts a twist in your ankles.

The more I ride it, the more I like it.
