New ctx 1300 owner

hello everyone
Kevin from Huntsville. I'm upgrading from the 700 to the 1300. I haven't done anything big yet but am looking forward to it. It came with the tall windshield. I will say the forward foot position I did like some I'm so tall but I am going to have to get use to this one since I bought it.

now I'm just curious on getting the backseat rest or trunk? For you guys or gals....that has the trunk how do feel about it? Would you keep it or would you do the rack and a tailbag?

Welcome @Ctxrider44
Congrats on the buy.
I chose to go with the rack and tail bag... but then I ride solo so having a back rest was not in my plans. For travel I use a few large dry bags mounted inline with the bike to reduce wind resistance and the luggage rack helps with that.

There are plenty of members here who have either, mostly the top case.

I had the top case on my first CTX1300. But I did not put it on my second one. The case worked really well for me. It goes on and off the bike easily. I only used it when I needed to carry something big. Most of the time it stayed in the closet. I did not mount the backrest on mine since I ride solo.

I did notice a little bit of tip from crosswinds and trucks when I had the box mounted. Nothing serious, but noticeable.

I took that top case all the way to Texas on one trip and all the way to New Jersey on another trip. I did Florida on my second CTX1300 without the top case. It was only a few days, so I had plenty of space in the saddle bags.

I like the foot position much better on the 1300. I felt like a parachute when I had the shorty screen on the 700.

Welcome Kevin. I have a GIVI top case. I have had a passenger off and on. But what I like about the GIVI is there are factory light kits that put additional running lights and brake lights up a little higher and more in the sight line of the driver behind you. You know they don't look for us. Just something to think about. But you can ad extra lights to most any top case. Ride safe.

When I first got my CTX back in 2016, I went with the rack and back rest. After 3 years, I added the SHAD trunk. I was able to use the existing rack to mount the trunk with the SHAD universal mounting plate (had to drill 4 holes).
