Hi Guys, Newly retired and hope to pick up a CTX soon.I have had a V Strom for 13 years and now want to go back to the full size road bikes.Years ago I had Pc 800 and loved it except it was low on power and braking. This 1300 looks like a big brother to the Pc 800. Thanks for any future help.Gary

Welcome @gary kansler .

It is a big brother to the PC800, ST1100, ST1300 in that order. Much of the CTX1300, like engine and transmission and other mechanical stuff, is right out of the ST1300 with some minor changes. The biggest change from the ST is that the CTX1300 is much more a cruiser/tourer rather than a sport tourer making it a much more relaxed ride yet still as capable.

Welcome to the forum Gary. Have the CTX and an 06 V-Strom. If you can hang on to both they make a great pair.

We ARE our choices.

Exactly this, and if you squint REAL HARD you can just make out the CTX1300's grand-pappy, the Mighty V65!

No matter what, this is an awesome machine that just didn't get all the recognition that it deserved. You'll love it. And WELCOME!

Welcome aboard Gary. Ya gotta tell us, what color? You know there is a certain stigma attached to certain colors. One being faster, handles better, looks bad, that sort of thing. Ya know. Also where ya from? Ride safe whatever color ya got, there all great.

From one Gary to another, you’ll love the CTX! And welcome to the V4 gang! There is plenty of advice here on the forums if you want to do your own maintenance on your new bike. A service manual is a must. Maybe it will come with the bike. Mine did. I bought mine four years ago with 2700 miles on it and she has been everything I need on long two up tours on backroads and super slabs. She’ll cruise at 85 mph all day or take on the worst twisties you can imagine with ease. Let us know where you are from. That way maybe someone here can help you get better aquatinted with your new bike. Also take it easy for a while so you have time to get to know all her controls and the way she handles. I’ve Even been told by MSF instructors that you are most at risk for an accident when transitioning to a new bike even if you are a long time rider. It takes a while to get used to where all the buttons are . I know, my Honda Magnas horn and turn signal functions are reversed on the left hand grip and I’m always honking the horn when reaching for the turn signal....LOL.
