What did you do with your other motorcycle today - *NON-CTX1300*

Since there are members here who own and ride more than one bike including a CTX, or no longer own a CTX, I thought it was about time for a thread like this. No need to avoid socializing a little just 'cuz you did something with a different model/make of bike.
Remember, this thread is ONLY for single posts about what you did with your bike that is NOT A CTX1300. There is already a thread for reporting about your activities with your CTX1300 in the General forum. If you plan more than a single post on any single activity or expect any discussion or question/answer to a post please put that in the appropriate thread or start a new thread and do not clutter this thread with such posting. This is the same idea as with the "What did you do with your CTX1300" thread.

I'll start this thread off with my contribution:
A week ago I prepped my Burgman 650 for the weather that hit us this weekend and is continuing yet today by adding the connections I need to plug in my heated gloves. Rode to work this morning on the B650 in spite of warnings that there was potential ice reported on some exit ramps off the beltway along my route to work. Temps were right at 32*F this morning per the radio I was listening to on my commute but the temp sensor display was showing more like 37*F. Those things are always a little different than actual air temps, especially on a highway that tends to run a bit warmer than air temps in other places due to the traffic. The heated gloves were turned on to the almost lowest setting but just enough to keep my hands very comfortable. The road was about 90% clear and dry with a few places that showed some moisture in the center of the lane or on the lane lines in between. I simply kept to tire tracks through these spots but I doubt there was ice there. I knew it was more likely off the main traveled roadway where there might be some icing, on the on/off ramps but not on the main pavement. Didn't have any issues that way the entire trip in. Expecting a rather cold week, mainly in the mornings, and sunshine. There is a lot of water in the ground since we are just coming off a lot of weeks of rain every day with maybe 2 days here, 1 day there, or something like that of just cloudy. The sun is showing a little now and expected to stay out for about a week. Will enjoy riding without the rain suit being always on hand.

Well Yesterday , I was browsing Craigslist again, and come upon an “ for sale” pair Honda Goldwings ( non runners) one with title one for parts( no title), I email the seller and , 4 hours later I was parking 2 Goldwings in my small motorcycle garage. The problem that I have now is I have 4 Motorcycles in a very small garage , and now I have to figure out how to organize the space. This are all Project bikes, I’m almost done with one of them( only thing left is a new chain ) and hopefully by the end of the month I can move out one of my small Suzuki GZ 250( parts bike) and open up some space. I will be busy this winter, working on bikes in my free time and hopefully learning much more about motorcycle maintenance and repairs.

Saturday afternoon I went for a ride before Sunday snow storm with the CTX1800 (aka 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT).
It was suppose to be a quick ride but I ended up doing Longmont-Lyons-Allenspark-Estes Park-Lyons-Longmont.
As expected I found traffic but that's the beauty of the CTX1800 DCT I can relax and follow the cars in front of me, the ride is smooth and effortless.

The plan for the winter is to install fog lights and a better windscreen (same height but tinted with recurved top).

consolation ride

Despite living perhaps the closest to our “meetup” location in NC, I had to travel to FL for a family health issue and I missed the meetup altogether. So disappointed after all the planning that everyone put into making this happen, including myself.

I have owned a little Honda dual sport 250 that I take with me when I go out of town, usually just rides in the bed of the truck. Not been riding it much lately, since it’s not really a full dirt bike off road and i I ride it hard the bike begs for mercy, and it’s not a great road bike either, buzzy and unstable at speed.

Been eying the new Indian made BMW G310GS bikes for a little while now, thinking that it would be a good replacement. Still not great off road exactly, but maybe much better on road as a travel (read, lives in the truck bed when I go out of town and can be used to tour around and explore) and adventure bike to get me out of the house and away from family when needed while down here.

So, rode the 250 to Asheville last week 2 days before the meetup and the very day that I had to leave town for FL and traded it in. Impulsively i must say, fed by my disappointment over missing the meetup.

Been riding it around central Florida and exploring the forest areas here. Didn’t know Florida was so nice! Fun little bike. Some pics attached.

NON-CTX - What did you do with your *OTHER THAN CTX1300 bike*

@Parkerpusher . Congrats on the new bike. That BMW GS 310 is a nice little bike. I had the same idea like you.Test rode one , I’m 6 feet 2 inches and pushing 240 lbs, and I felt cramped on it, it’s too small for me. Otherwise I liked the bike, and for the price I think it is good bike, my dealer had it for $5950 .

Been riding to work on the Burgman 650 in spite of colder temps. Yesterday was down to 14F (-10C). The first farkle installed last month was the isolated fuse block for aux power to any electrical farkles I add. Then came the connection for the Gerbing heated gloves. My prior Burgman 650 that I had 10 years ago was the first scoot I added this heated gloves connection to. Still using the very same gloves since. That was also the first bike I was riding when I started wearing armored overpants, but those have been replaced. I rediscovered just how great the weather protection is on this scooter for the legs. I still have my overpants in mesh mode (without the outer solid shell), however I do have the inner wind/thermal liners installed, and my legs are still plenty warm at that low temp. Today's ride was warmer... 25F. Winter is just beginning here so expect more cold temps. Just hope for many days of clear dry pavement so I can keep riding. When it starts getting warmer I'll be installing a pair of Fiamm Highway Blaster horns so I can be heard (don't like working in the cold unheated garage).

BTW- Since I only torture one bike (at a time) I have my CTX1300 prepped and parked in the garage with a cover over it, Stabil in the tank, AccuMate battery maintainer to keep the battery in good condition. We have a second vehicle with 4 wheels again so to be able to ride what I want, and enable both of those others be available for my wife, and also keep the snow thrower handy for when that is needed I don't have many options how to park everything. So the 2 biggest vehicles in the center with enough room to get the scoot out on one side and the snow thrower out on the other side. It all fits through a 16 foot overhead door.

Looked at the snowed in stable. Over the winter I get at least one day every couple of weeks or so that's dry enough to take each of the bikes for a ride long enough to keep the battery charged and the life juices flowing. The bad days make the good days that much better. No light without darkness after all.

Being covered and parked in a cold barn may be ignoble, but if I ever made my steed sit outside in the snow it would sue me for non-support!
