09 ST1300 to 2014 Blue CTX1300T

I have traded in my ST1300 on a blue CTX1300T. In Canada we only have one model to buy, from what I can see its like your deluxe model but without self cancelling signals. I am picking up my new bike this Tuesday and it will have the higher windshield on by pickup. The dealer ordered and got immediate delivery of the windshield, but that's Honda Canada. So I have not test ridden a CTX only read everyone's reviews and thanks for all your honesty and great opinions and comments. My color of choice was red but the dealer I purchased from only had a blue one in stock but there both nice colors. I must say my ST1300 has been by far the best bike I have ever owned but it like all bikes is not perfect. When I first used the electric windshield I said I would never buy another bike without one but " never say never" I had to add bar risers to reduce the forward lean as going down hill caused shoulder pain and being a member of a ST1300 owners group this was an issue for many. The last few years my hip pain has been hard to make bike riding enjoyable...so last year I tried out both model VRods to experience the forward controls and I must say the two short rides were enjoyable but felt back pain because of the poor back support would be an issue....So last year I considered going to a cruiser but did not want to buy a two cylinder engine again. Wouldn't you know it Honda put the V 4 in a cruiser. I really appreciate Honda attempting to keep old farts like me riding and improving comfort is the only way to do it.. I am a few years away from going to 3 wheels I hope. After I ride my new bike I will let you all know what I think. I mentioned in another post I am waiting post hip surgery to ride, surgery was 6 weeks tomorrow my surgeon gave me the green light to ride last Wednesday so I am excited. I am anticipating falling in love with this bike just like I did my ST1300. Everyone's opinions and comments have been greatly appreciated. I will add my new bike to my list below after I sign the papers....Cheers :) Jim:)

Congrats, Jim!

Sounds like you have the same issues with the ST that I did, and are looking forward to the CTX for many of the same reasons that I was. I think you're going to be very satisfied. :)

Congrats Jim!
Getting up there myself, but don't consider myself "there" yet, I too am having some hip pain. I see some new parts in my future for that. My wife wants a stainless stove. I'll settle for a stainless hip. :) Anyway, I find my hip hurts when I get up and walk after sitting a while (like at work). It has started to hurt a little when climbing onto my ST1100. But I never have had it hurt on the CTX1300. In fact I'm beginning to think riding the CTX will be what I do to relieve the pain! :D

You'll like the tall shield. Rode to work today with it for the first time (put it on this weekend) and it is not as tall as my ST shield is for me, I like that part a lot, means I can see over it more. :D
I'll be doing a little more review on my experience later as I get a little more time with it.

Thanks Ed and Bob. The hip is Titanium. So encouraged by the comfort everyone is experiencing. C in the CTX is for comfort, Honda leads the way again.

You will love the difference!

Also sold the ST1300 just before picking up the CTX1300 a few weeks ago. We did a 3 day trip last week. 150 mile plus days, could have done lots more. Comfort comparison, extremely pleasant!!! You will appreciate the difference...
Tall shield at delivery, same for me, good idea. ENYOY!!!

Congrats on the new bike!! I think you will really like it...I have enjoyed every mile so far!!!
Nice pics, Jim. Really like the passenger seat cowl -- looks slick and comfortable. I've never seen that before on a ST.

Ed Its a corbin smuggler and they make it for several bikes, I know you can get it for the FJR1300. Its pricey I paid $916.00 delivered in Canadian dollars. When I had it on people would always stop for an extra look. Looks is about all it was good for, not the best back support, the lid did not open with the trunk on. cheers Jim
This past Tuesday morning I loaded up with help my 09 ST1300A into my trailer and headed off on a 3 hr. drive to Cranbrook B.C. to pick up my CTX1300AE. Arrived home after dinner and left the new bike in the trailer over night. That evening I read the owners manual and was happy to find that it does have self cancelling signals and there is a 12 volt accessory plug under the seat. After unloading the bike Wednesday I spent the day familiarizing myself with the bike, got the stereo playing. It did not take long to figure my first hurdle with my new hip would be getting on and off the bike without violating my 3 month movement restrictions. After establishing a routine to get on and off Thursday morning I took off for my first ride thinking first day I would probably just put on 100 kilometers or so. My first experience with music and I quite liked it. I can relate to the stiff suspension
on ruff roads when going slow but no problem on the highway. The mirrors are not as good as my ST1300 but better than any other bike I have owned. I love the handle bars and the 0 percent forward lean. The gearing is different and I like it better on the CTX. As far as comfort, Honda absolutely nailed it. I put 280 kilometers on it and was not sore at all. I love the shorter seat height I can now touch flat footed and moving the pegs slightly forward relaxes the hips but they are not too far forward that you loose the back support. The smoothness of the V4 is incredible to say the least. I miss all the storage compartments on the ST1300 but I made the right choice moving to this bike looking for a more comfortable ride. Honda did it again

Glad you are feeling better and able to ride.

I want to pass on something to you fellow rides that fixed my pain back hip and neck Pain.

I love to ride bikes, and have several of them, see below for my current bike.

I too was In your same category and considering surgery, I was close to just doing it, when i went for a second and third opinion.

When I came across someone that had the same Back and Hip problems I had sciatica, neck and nerve problems, hips cramping up bad.

I went to a New doctor that was recommended to me, the new doctor changed my life, No more pain zero pain now for last 5+ years, no back Pain at all.

New Doctor said he had seen this very often, and started me on a Liquid Vitamin D3 he said everyone is deficient, but doesn't know it.

I had pain for more than 20 years, It would put me down for a week at a time.

I thought it was just that I was getting old and had to either live with pain or Surgery.

Surgery was Last On my List.

So I bought some Liquid Vitamin D3 it had a dropper in the lid, Doc said for me to take 10,000 IU to start per day, EVERY Day.

So that is what I did.

Doc. said it will heal my body naturally, but give it as least 3-4 weeks to work.

I was very skeptical, I had pain for so long, My back would go out when a could weather front would come through, it was terrible.

So I stared taking the D3, 10,000 Units a day.

End of:
1st week, I stopped taking 2 pain pills a day, and was down to 1 per day.
2nd week stopped taking the second pain pill.
3rd week most pain, if not all was gone, I was so shocked and felt stupid for not finding this years sooner.
4th week, I could not believe my range of movement.
5th week I new this was the cure that I wanted, I had no pain at all, that I had had before.

Last year me and My wife moved to a new house, we moved our selves, There is no way I would have tried that before, I would have been in bed for a week, or more.

Since finding this cure and fixing my self and my wife, from pain , I want to pass it on to others as it worked for us.

Vitamin D3 is cheap, for how amazing it works.

What are the performance differences between the ST1300 and CTX1300

Mileage?

Is the ST1300 more geared to all top end power meaning you have to keep it on full Boil to get the best out of it?

What about handling/

I was talking to a policeman in my area, he was riding a ST1300 and said he loved the bike, and was disappointed that his department was going to the Kawasaki Concours 14 next time they changed bikes.

I have not ridden either bike and am unfamiliar with them.
