Terry Schroader called to inform me they were unpacking 3 CTX 1300s. I believe a red & blue/grey std. And a red deluxe (perhaps). He said with ABS. I thought Deluxe was only way to get : anti lock brakes, self canceling turn signals, traction control, blackened out look. & blue tooth audio.
Anyway they have 3. All available I think. Terry the owner , is usually ready to give a discount off retail. Schroaders is in Hendersonville NC. WNC mountains near Asheville NC.
I have a deposit on a Blue/ grey deluxe, in with their next CTXs on the 8th April. I've found dealers vary on "destination charge". Make sure you ask if you are price shopping. Terry gave me a great price + 350 destination charge. I've bought 3 Honda from them since 1977.
The recent post showing windshield, back rest luggage case, was that for 1300??

Center stand is definitely an option you have to buy extra for the U.S..
In some countries overseas heated grips and center stand and all other Deluxe options are "standard" and they don't get the stripped standard version that we will get.

If you're referring to the pics AT THIS THREAD those are for the CTX1300. (I think I may want the higher screen). Don't know any prices yet and last dealer I ask about them didn't have any information on when available. If you use a currency converter you can see what the dollar equivalent is for what Honda Japan is selling those for but that is no guarantee that we'll be able to buy for the same price. Aside from the value of Yen/Dollar changing all the time there is also likely some transport charges and regional price differences in the mix. As to the ABS, yes the Deluxe is the only model here in the U.S. that comes with that. But I'm sure ABS can be added to the Standard model as well if you (or the dealer) want it just like any other option (like audio BT package, blacked out parts, etc.).

Unpacking

Perhaps someone can now find out how are they packaged when shipped? Wood box/crate with all or most all in tact? Something else?

As far as packing and shipping goes, space is at a premium -- yet technical expertise for re-assembly is same. So the manufacturer usually tries to strike a balance between making the crate as small as possible and not having the dealer spend a day re-assembling your bike.

Most Japanese manufacturers ship with just the front wheel removed (so the bike has a lower maximum height). If there's any protrusions that are easy to take apart (antennas, mirrors, winshield etc.) and that make a difference, they usually also ship disassembled. That's about all there is to it.

They also all tend to ship with oils/coolant/brake fluid already filled in (since they have to fill them up for the test at the factory anyway) and with the batteries separate. I never understood dealers that leave the bikes in the showroom with the positive (red) battery lead left out in a visible manner -- is that meant as a theft deterrent?
