CTX 1300 -- what's in a name?

Honda's new model philosophy is all about crossovers between already existing segments. The CTX1300 is a cross between comfort and technology, hence the 'CTX' name.

The comfort aspect of the CTX 1300 is found in its comfortable riding position and low center of gravity with its 29.1 inch seat.

Aside from the engine, the CTX1300 Deluxe build on the tech aspect of the bike by adding a Bluetooth enabled audio package, self-cancelling turn signals, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and traction control.

And the last part of the name, '1300', comes from the engine of course. The CTX1300 is powered by a modified version of the Honda ST1300's 1,261cc V4 engine and five speed gear box.

So there you have it. that's why its called the CTX1300.

LOL. I want to see someone name their bike Snagglepuss, and actually ride it around town.

Its a little interesting hearing about what's behind the CTX name. Often times I just think that names are completely arbitrary, so its nice to know some actual info behind the name. Sounds like a good name to me.

haha I agree.
if they do, i would just remove the snagglepuss sticker/badge and get back to riding it!
Do any of you guys name your bikes/other vehicles? I didn't know if that was still cool or not.

What would you name your CTX1300?

Everyone names their boat, so why not also name your motorcycle?
Lots of riders on the ST site name their rides. I know other as well that do. I don't have a name for mine unless it messes up  then I fix it and keep riding. Usually that's only a tire issue since there's been some construction in the neighborhood
nah I don't name my motorcycles or my cars

haven't gotten that far yet.
If I had to I would name her Bessie. Just fits..

Actually speaking of Honda MC names I just fond out that Honda typically names their bikes after airplanes.

The Valkyrie for instance was a massive mach III jet and the F6B was an old war plane named...

Keep in mind I did learn this from another guy on another forum, but hey it could be true :p Does anyone know anything about this??

I can neither confirm nor deny. But I had heard that the VTX series was originally intended to be named 'Vanguard', but that name had already been copyrighted by somebody else. Not sure exactly what that means ...

If that's true, i'd have to say it's awesome, good way to pick names. I know there are other ways car and bike makers come up with names that are more creative and interesting, but this is simple and effective
I hadn't heard this before, but it sounds like a pretty cool theme with which to name bikes.

Looked i t up on Google, and if it is named after a Valkyrie plane, the one I found is "one of the fastest aircraft bombers in the world."

thats one epic looking plane, at least they named it after something badass.
I heard that F6B stands for Flat 6 Bagger..
only saying.

I think it was just the next number in succession in the F6 series(F6 designating Flat 6), cos the Valkyrie is the F6C. I think the bagger part is just a coincidence and somebody's idea of being funny. The big Wing is a bagger too....

I always thought the VTX1300 was for V twin xperience 1300

I have not named my CTX but now I am thinking about one.... a one word name that describes its comfort/smoothness and futuristic look. A friend of mine stopped by he is a Harley rider I was out front washing my CTX he looked at it for several minutes and simply said " It looks futuristic":smiley-happy0034:
Someone pointed out that I could no longer call myself ShadowRider because I no longer rode a Shadow. (And frankly I didn't want to change that name because I use it on so many forums and other places.) So I replied that I would simply nickname my CTX 1300 "Shadow" and the problem would be solved. It's black and sexy, so the name seems to fit anyway!
