Goldwing Rear Air Shocks

It was discussed a while back that some members swapped their stock (crappy shocks) and replaced them with 80's Goldwing air shocks. II decided to give it a try so I found a cheap set on FleaBay and will be installing them when I get them in a few days. Hope to be able to feel the difference for a better ride. We'll see...

I’m a new owner to us of our CTX and the only thing a bit annoying is the ride. I’m glad my sweetie will let me park the bike in the basement this winter so I can do my mods.
Hi guys, I'm curious, what is the complaint with the ride that air shocks will solve? I ask this as I ride solo and find the ride just fine. Is it a "2 UP' issue? What year of gold wing air shocks are you installing?

Congrats on the new CTX! Yes, the air shocks should handle two-up and give a more cushioned ride. I'll report when I get them on.

Looking for a more comfortable ride, the stock ones are a little harsh depending on the setting. I think the air shock will handle as good, with better ride quality all around, but I'll have to play with how much air pressure I want until it feels good to me ("hope" being the key).

Oh yeah, the shocks are from a '82 GL1100 Aspencade. Paid $49.00 shipped, they have some rust on the chromed housings, but that will come off with a little WD40 and fine steel wool.

Keep in mind the air shocks from an '80s GW rear air shocks are 40+ years old and may need rebuilding due to age and being worn. A lot of effort for a "maybe" result. I went to a more "expensive" way of replacing the front suspension with a Traxxion Dynamic one and the rear with Hyperpro's. Got to say WOW!
Good point but the donor bike only has 20K miles, so worst case scenario I'm out 50 bucks and had fun in the process. The sky's the limit when it comes to suspensions so it depends on what you're willing to spend for your performance objectives.
