My dealer just called and has a couple coming off the truck today. Wants me to come down to look. One red, one blue standard and I think he might even have a deluxe blue but not sure. I am thinking a blue standard would look good in my garage! Depends on if he is willing to work with me on my trade.

Have you decided for sure whether or not you are going to buy yet, or are you still withholding judgement until you get a proper test drive? I've heard the blue model is harder to come across than the red model, I'm especially excited to see some pictures of that.

Still in the crate when I got to the dealer. Very sharp looking bike. It has these push button storage trays on either side of the handle bars and buttons under them for settings of some kind. The rear tire is huge!
I will stop by tomorrow and get some pics for everyone. I saw a red one in the bright sunlight and it has some incredible metal flake in the paint. I mean it really sparkled!
Not sure yet if I would purchase without riding. I don't even know it the dealer here will allow a test ride on one of his sale bikes.

Here are a few pics taken with my cell phone. Not the best camera though.

Things I noticed off the bat:
1. Side case would not fit my wifes Shoei Multitech even close.
2. Handlebars completely blocked the side mirrors. However, at closer inspection, it is possible the tech had them set a little high. This must be corrected before I would consider buying the bike. Confirmed problem as another rider sat on the bike while I was standing there. He made the same observation.
3. Rear is even bigger in person! That 200 rear is huge! Not sure how it will corner without riding.
4. I asked about availability of the accessories and Dealer just did not know. I will need a trunk if the side cases can't hold a helmet. It looks like a trunk, center stand and taller windscreen are supposed to be made for this bike but if it is like the CTX700, after a year there still are very few accessories available. Hmmmmm, not good Honda!
5. The color is pretty much what you see in the pictures of videos and ads. I personally like it. The red has some serious sparkle in sunlight!
6. Covers for speakers have chrome around them and with the buttons on the tank, it almost appears like the standard has this built in and ready to go. Again, dealer did not know and did not have a battery in the bike for me to test.
7. LED lights everywhere, tail, headlight, blinkers
8. Seat was very comfortable sitting on the bike. At 5'8" and 30" inseam, my reach to ground was planted.

So, I am calling him Monday and see if he checked on accessory availability for me and he wants to look at my trade in. This may not happen for me at this time if I can,t secure my helmet inside the bike. I do way too much travel and need that option. If so, this might be going down on Monday and I will have a new CTX1300. Very sharp looking bike in person.

These outdoor photos of the Blue look very different from the indoor photos we've been seeing. I noticed the same thing with the 2012 Gold Wing.

My Trophy is like that too. It is a very different color in the garage than it is out in the sun.

Sparkle

I didn't expect that much metallic sparkle. But I like it and glad I ordered that color. Just not sure if I'll prefer or just be OK with the deluxe black-out vs bright work of the std. If not that happy, I may add some of the chrome accessory accents. We'll see. Good luck on your decision.... Which I'll bet is made already. You just need to acknowledge that!

Oh, I want the bike! I just have to make sure I have some storage options. We travel 3 weeks at a time during the summer and a lot of 3 or 4 day trips throughout the year. I can use my Ortleib duffel bag for trunk but I also like to store a jacket and helmet when I walking around.

Very nice color. I also really like how it changes in different lighting.
One of the French reviews posted here mention the bags at 35 liters. That's the same volume as my bags on the ST1100 and the ST1300 but they are a little different shape. So I have an idea what I can put in them. They look longer than either of those 2 bikes bags. Can't put my HJC is17 helmet in but I always secure it on the top shelter anyway with a small cable lock and with the visor closed. When I travel I fill the bags and trunk with camping gear and some clothes so the helmet and jacket get secured on the bike not in the bags... unless I'm pulling the camper and then the bags only hold what I need to get to fast while on the road and my trunk is empty. On the CTX1300 I think I'll go back to using my tent for a while until I can figure out a hitch. That may take a season or 2.

from looking at the owner's manual that was posted in the forums there is a helmet lock of sorts under the seat. have a browse of the manual again. Even though its in Japanese the diagrams clearly displays the use of the underseat helmet lock.

also the vulcan 900 custom has a 200 rear tire and it's pretty solid in the corners. Rode the test bike a little too hard and shaved the little numbs on the footpegs right off. If anything i think it helped the bike handle better.
