Hello to you all. I am new to the site and very anxious to hear about your thoughts on this new Honda product. This past Saturday I rode my Burgman 650 Exec. which I love with a passion to Central Florida Powersports in Kissimmee Florida to lay my eyes on this beautiful machine. I only got to set on it as I was not offered a test ride but it felt like home. I have given much thought about purchasing a Goldwing to please my pillion partner (the wife) so we could enjoy some much longer rides and a little touring. My hesitation other that $$$'s is the weight and I am a fan of the twisties and just don't feel the GW will satisfy my needs. After hearing about this new Honda I am excited to learn more about it.
Weight, seat height, balance and looks has me wanting more hence here I am with my ears wide open to hear of your experiences so please forgive my lack of knowledge and help me go through this learning curve.

The very first impression I had about this bike was it needed more refinements for the passenger and I hope Honda or some after market provider solves this need. If there was ever a need for the aging boomers, it would be a lightweight GW to fill the gap that exist.

Welcome to the forum!! I think that Honda did a great job filling that gap with this bike! There are several posts on here about the Honda Accessories and they do have some that will make the passenger experience a little better. Aftermarket from the looks of it has nothing yet...so they will have some catching up to do. Although most of the honda parts are not available in the US yet anyway...so only time will tell!!
Welcome aboard, Audie!

As for passenger amenities, all I've seen so far are a backrest and a top box with a passenger pad, both of which are not yet available but will mount on a luggage rack. July is the date I've seen floating around for their availability. What else are you interested in?
Welcome to the site Audie, great source of information. Jim
Welcome here! I also used to ride a Burgman 650. Took me a year to get the balance on my GW so I could keep it at a fast walk without weaving erratically. Then the B650 took me about a week to do the same. My ST took longer again, about 6 months. This CTX1300 is close to the same weight as my ST but feels WAY lighter than either the ST or GW once it starts to move, and even stopped it doesn't show its weight because it's so low. Almost just as easy to handle as the B650 IIRC!
Judging from the last few years I don't really expect my wife to want to ride pillion. She only rode with me once last year... I think... or was that 2 yrs ago(?). Just not interested so I don't know that I'll need the back rest. I also heard from my dealers these are due out in July. I did order the tall shield when I picked up my CTX Saturday. That is available for order now and I heard a few dealers might actually have them on hand(?).

Don't know if anyone is into camping... Maybe a plan to camp as a group at the Davis Rally in New Hampton, IA (NE Iowa) the weekend after Labor Day every year. Usually starts Friday morning but many show up Thursday afternoon. I've been going to this rally since 2003 and camp right in the very large city park.

Thanks for the reply guys. Hope to wise up with all your help.
To Ed, I guess I want a little more of the plush pillion comforts like cushy backrest/passenger backresttrunk/armrest ect. I just this minute got back from a visit to the Melbourne Honda Dealer to see if they had a CTX1300 in stock and turns out I think they had 5 or 6. I measured the distance across the luggage bags to get a idea what type after market backrest/trunk might fit without looking like a sloppy refit. The salesman offered a test ride and I had to bite my lip to says thanks but not until my wife can go along on another visit. She doesn't know I have a interest in this 1300 cause she would prefer a GW Trike even though she has never sit on one. I'm not trilled about 3 wheels cause I'm still a little immature 63 year old. Maybe when I'm a little closer to my deathbed I'll do a trike. My cat might like a trike https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd_cVwv35Z4 I'll ask his opinion when he gets a job . (cats name is Cocoa hence My username Cocoa Audie). He is still happy with the Burgman.:D

Thanks again guys
Audie
