The seat on the CTX1300 is similar to the seat on the Gold Wing. When I rode the Gold Wing on hot days I noticed a bit of butt sweat due to contact with the horizontal seat and the little vertical piece at the back of the seat.

I'll be adding beads to the CTX tonight. BeadRider – Beaded Motorcycle Seats

I used these on my CTX700 and they made a huge difference.

We used to have those beaded seats on our GL1200s and they worked great! I thought they would be hard and uncomfortable, but they felt pretty good (you get a kind of muscle massage) and keeping your pants seat from getting sweaty helps to keep you going a lot longer. Chafing in that area is NO fun. (Don't ask how I know that...)

Had that on my GW many years ago but didn't work for me and was uncomfortable so ditched the beads. When I was still with the GW groups, and even with the ST group, I kept hearing about the Anti-Monkey Butt Powder stuff and how that was the solution. Funny name... amazing results!?:D

as funny as that is, it sure does work, seen some buddies with that and they really recommend it.

I'm not so sure about the beaded seat covers. I just don't see those being comfortable. I also understand the chafing and overheating problem though. I might just opt to take breaks when riding instead of finding a fix that works on the bike itself. I'd rather get off the bike and get some fresh air.

FYI: Since you guys seem to be having a problem with the seat[hot/cold,comfortable,uncomfortable]there is a seat cover called the BUTT BUFFER which should solve all your problems.I bought one way back in 99 for my Venture and still have and use it today on my Tbird. It has a gel pad sown into a valor type cover,is warm in the cold weather, and cool in the hot weather.Unfortunately,it is not water proof but can still be used when riding the bike in the rain.Ya just have to take it off and put in in the saddle bags/trunk after you stop and park the bike.[if it's raining and left outside] They're still available, so check em out. It's one of those things that ya buy once and forget about it. Um, believe me, unless you end up installing a taller windshield, you're gonna get all of the fresh air you can handle, and then some! :D

I started with the wooden beads. Bought a car seat set from Walmart and then modified to fit. They worked pretty well except on very hot days when the foam in the seat heated up and then allowed the beads to sink deep in the seat. I recently bought a Butt Buffer. This is a kind of polymer pad. I'll post a pic here today. Works pretty well.
