HELLO ALL, I'm an old harley guy who recently discovered the ctx1300 and I'm pretty sure I want one. My problem is there are none locally to check out. Any input about comfort/fitment for big guys would be appreciated. I'm 6'1 270 and currently ride a roadglide. Thanks, john

You can look at YouTube reviews, some show how well riders fit the saddle. Your knees could come close to the back ends of the valve covers, but the reviews I've watched of long legged riders said it wasn't an issue for them.
I'm 5'11" with a 32" inseam. No problem.
I've also gone back and read many of the introductions in this forum and many who have had just about every motorcycle made say the CTX1300 is the best handling bike they've ridden.
It's only my fourth bike, the others were smaller and lower cruisers. My personal view is there isn't any other model motorcycle currently available that I would switch to. The latest model Goldwing would be my next choice, but not in my budget.

Welcome to the forum @bigchopperguy
There are several taller riders here. Maybe some of them will post to give their impressions. Or you can also search for tall rider in the search community box above. Your inseam has more to do with how your legs fit than your total height. So far, I have not heard of someone who has genuinely had any issue with it.

I would try to sit on one with Corbin standard the size for tall riders. That seat is wider dish like you see on Harley with available back rest. I'm over 6 foot 205 and shin is about two inches back of valve cover.
You will probably find it feels like a little wider between the knees.
Bike is quite and low vibration compared to most twin Vs.
Being a big guy if your used to heavy bikes and can spend the extra the GW engine and options like cruise would be appreciated if your a long tour rider. CTX1300 is a happy middle between twin V and GW probably feel a little lighter at about 120lb less but holds more weight higher.
As to weight I think as a 1 up it will be okay as with my wife it doesn't feel over for suspension.
Like my CTX but if I win the lottery it would be BMW or the GW as they option much more touring advantages.

@bigchopperguy I'm right at 6ft and wish I was 270. I'm ~30lbs north of that. I've owned about 8 motorcycles over my 20 years of riding and the CTX is the most comfortable one I've yet had! I did get the forks redone with RaceTech gear and different oil and I replaced the stock shocks with heavier duty Progressives. Both those mods helped a lot, along with larger ISO grips and a different throttle sleeve/cam to tone down the twitchiness. And a Corbin seat to replace the stock, but I just prefer Corbin seats, I've had them over half of the bikes I've owned.

But even before making any changes the CTX was the most comfortable by a country mile!!

I've owned:
1988 Honda VTX800
2000 Kawasaki Concours
2005 Yamaha FZ600 (Corbin)
1998 Suzuki Bandit 1200 (most uncomfortable)
1999 Honda Aero 1100 (Corbin)
2000 Honda Sabre (Corbin)
2002 Kawasaki Concours (Corbin)
2014 Honda CTX (Corbin)

The CTX does everything I need a bike to and does it well!

Not sure what bike your looking for. A local guy to me purchased a standard and put in garage. Guess he never rode. He started off at 9k, quickly dropped to 7,5k. Its swfl location. Haven't seen it but at under 500 miles should be like new. Appears in picture to be out of the crate stock.

I've seen deluxe with extras for about same price but with a few miles.

Hi Patrick, I just came across the ctx about a week ago and am trying to learn as much as I can before I buy one. I think I would prefer a deluxe mainly for the sound system and self cancelling turn signals. Your neighbors bike makes me wonder why there are so many of these ctx's with very low miles. I'm watching some on ebay and made an offer on a deluxe on cycletrader.com today but no reply as of yet. Is the local bike to you listed somewhere that I can check it out? I really appreciate the input from you all... john

On Facebook marketplace so if you change city to port charlotte fl you should find it.

They had new in the crate bikes until like 2020 I think. After first year some sold at steep discount to msrp. If sound system is important they also were doing 1/2 price options so like $400 add for music. My standard has it so don't simply overlook if that primary want, owner might not even know its an add.

I personally like the color of standard wheels.

The deluxe options certainly worth having and a bike with all the extras should be valued accordingly.

Consider a 2014 with lots of tread depth still might need new tires if original stock.

A garage kept 15k bike might even be better mechanically than a bike that only has 500 miles.

If price reflected wouldn't scare me to buy a 25k mile bike. Too many out there to buy a 50k mile bike IMO.

There are a few that added cruise control aftermarket. That's a 1k upgrade if you see the one from Australia on it that owners have good reviews.

I bought my CTX in 2018 from a dealership in PA and it was still in the crate. Paid $9200 for a Deluxe with 0 miles and tacked on a Honda Extended Warranty for another $550, iirc. Not sure the warranty was worth it as I had shock failure that a dealer confirmed but Honda said both shocks could not go bad and refused to replace.

That seems like good price for deluxe. I seem to remember 7500 for a standard deals.
Of course early adopters paid much more and used buyers during covid craze paid more than these prices used.
I did a fly to buy and ride home with detour rode 1100 miles to get home and feel the price was good for condition for a used bike and was a blast getting a vacation out of the deal. Flew in rode to closest Walmart for some camping gear and did two nights of camping, doing better than 10 hours riding mountains on second day.

As to why so many with low miles its common with most motorcycles sold that people buy and don't ride like they dreamed during purchase.

I think the big discounts sucked in some buyers and certainly a cool looking bike. It attracted more that had cruiser in mind so that probably got more bikes used to ride to dinner type riders on short distances rather than cross country rides that put lots of miles on a bike. If this came with cruise you'd probably see more people piling the miles on.

But if you shop just about any bike its common to find bikes under 5k miles on 10 years old.

If I couldn't find a deal on one easily expand the shopping to goldwing version to fit your needs, still lots of them with low miles fully optioned tour or fb6 for around town cruising.

I asked a salesman at Ashland, NC Harley why there were so many used bikes with low mileage. He said some customers are never satisfied. He had one local who would try for a month and was ready to buy something else.
Some owners just don't ride much either, just because they don't have the time.
I drive a truck through Florida weekly, and wonder why I don't see more motorcycles on the road, any roads. My motorcycle is 1st choice for transportation, but it doesn't seem like many riders feel the same way. Of course being single without children makes a difference.

Thanks for the input from everyone! I'm leaning towards a low mile standard. A lot to process and with your help I'll make the right choice.... Again, I'm grateful for all the comments

Just add up the options stuff like top box, center stand, sound system...
I would consider a deluxe if close in price. The abs and turn signals some find helpful. Certainly if you compare a basic zero options standard to fully optioned deluxe with corbin with same mileage I think $1k is a no brainer but if I just wanted an around town bike I would be happy with a standard no options and say $3-4k still in my pocket.
If your patient shopper I think either can be had with under 10k miles on it, and since its a no warranty either way I like a bike that's broke in enough to not have a loose bolt or part defect show up. I think like the GW these should do 100k miles with oil, coolant flush and tires.
Happy shopping if you strike a deal on one somewhere remote from you come back and ask if someone can put eyes on it for you.
