New mirrors on the CTX

I bought a set of mirrors for the Triumph Tiger Explorer and mounted them on the handlebars of my new CTX. They are awesome! I've never had mirrors this far out on the bars. I can see everything!

I got them from Pandora's in Chattanooga. Triumph Motorcycle Parts and Accessories- Powered by Pandoras Motorsports | Triumph Motorcycle Parts

Triumph mirrors on CTX - TennesseeSmith

These are not cheap, but they work well and don't dork up the looks too much.

I have mixed feelings. After riding quite a bit, I have decided that the stock mirrors are NOT adequate. My jacket sleeves hang down just enough to block most of the view behind me, no matter how much I adjust the mirrors. I have to actively lift up my arms to see behind me, and that is NOT a good situation.

The mirrors you put on are a good match for the bike's finishes and seem to provide an excellent view behind you, but they DO break up the lines of the bike somewhat. This is just my gut reaction initially and I think they will grow on me. I may look around for a slightly different type, one that (to my eye) would be a better match for the style of the bike and its lines. Yours do not look bad at all, though. This is something I really need to think about.
What thread are those mounts? I did notice the plugs but didn't check on that info.
I think that these new side mirrors look like they are quite functional, but I'm not sure if they really match the style of the bike. Good on you for replacing them. I'm gonna look around some more before I decide on new mirrors. I hope there are some other options out there that fit with the style of the CTX1300.
I don't know what the thread spec is, but these same mirrors seem to work on many metric bikes. I think its a standard.

If I can find a luggage rack like the one I had on my first ST1100, I'll really be messing up the lines of the bike:

now THAT's the kind of luggage rack I'd want to have if I had one to carry luggage. Probably why I'm reluctant to put one on this bike. IF my wife decided she did want to ride with me on occasion I would likely put on the Honda rack... not for the luggage function but only to hold the back rest, or figure out a way to make something that will hold the backrest without sticking out too far.
I don't see any mirrors -- I see two items in a shopping cart.
Oh, there they are. Didn't see the other link.

Ummmm, a little too busy for my tastes. But then I'm quite happy with the stock setup.

I would have to say that I have mixed feelings on these as well. I'm pretty torn between fit vs function. i agree that the stock mirrors are not what they could/should be. I have found that with some slight adjustment (while I'm riding) I can see somewhat. But I'm not sure that dual mirrors would keep with the lines of the bike...I was thinking about trying to find some of those bubble mirrors that you place on the mirror itself and put them in the top corner and see if this would make a difference at all. i know they distort the distance but might make it easier to see what is there in the first place.

I like them. I assume there was a 10mm hole that was plugged???
Has anyone replaced their mirrors with a set other than these ones here? I get the sense that people think that there are better options out there.

I noticed the exact same thing yesterday...really bugged me.
As far as the look goes, I wonder if the tall windscreen will allow the new mirrors to "blend" in better.
My new tall windscreen is on it's way, and I suspect I'll be adding similar mirrors (if not those).

TennesseeSmith provided these in a previous thread:

I realized about 10 minutes out on the highway that the stock mirrors are just a cosmetic unit only.. I will be trying to find a more effective mirror.. I have already found a set of replacement saddle bags to get rid of the Tonka toys from the factory. along with a quick release tail trunk from GIVI

I just got back from using those stock saddle bags. Ugh. How clumsy are those things? I went to search the GIVI site, and then thought, hey, wait a minute... I'll ask Kniterider what he found.

What did you find?
I searched for a couple of hours for different styles but then came back to GIVI since I really liked their large tail trunk with its quick release hook up. I looked all the different saddle bags and will definitely go with their quick release options so I can remove the side bags and the tail trunks. That way I only need them on the bike when traveling and can pop them off for local commuting..

I find nothing wrong with the stock bags. They work fine. They look fine. I know they aren't as expensively made as the ST, or GW, or a lot of other bags on bikes, but they don't need to be. The Bestem top case I have on my ST is not nearly as good as these, and yet that top case is more that enough for what it does... just like the stock bags on the CTX... more than enough for they need to be.
I did have a Givi top case on my Burgman and it was very nice, but I told myself I was never going to spend that much on a case again. I am satisfied with what I have. :D

I guess I must be easy to please cuz I am also ok with the mirrors. I find them useable, though agree they could have been better. I do see what I need to see in them. If I did add mirrors to the bars I would have to find a set that complements the forms of the bike. That means the glass would have to be very short height but somewhat long, like the bike is, and be somewhat of a trapezoid shape similar to the existing mirrors. I would also have to have the stems very low/close to the bars. I think that would complement the style of the bike. I've seen a few sets that would work... maybe.
I feel that the better solution that Honda maybe should have done is use a slightly narrower bar, so the reservoirs would be inside the view of the mirrors. They wouldn't need to be much narrower but maybe 3 inches on each side. :350x700px-LL-66dd6d I don't think that would affect the handling much.

I've attempted using new mirrors mounted in the provided ports on the reservoirs, but I bought them too much for looks rather that function, because the viewing area was too small, so I took them off.
For those with forearms of "normal" length, there doesn't seem to be a mirror problem, but ShadowRider's right, the armor within my jacket at the elbows hangs directly in my line of sight when looking through the mirror.
I've added the tiny little blindspot bullseye mirrors and that's given me the idea to replace those things with the really big circular blindspot mirrors... perhaps that'll allow me to "see around" my elbows.
(I've got some larger sideview mirrors on order anyway)
I agree that the mirrors aren't what they could be. I had to lower my handlebars to improve my seating position on the bike and that helped a great deal in being able to see in the mirrors. I am still considering adding another set of mirrors though.
