New Old Guy

Hola, I'm an old retired guy who's been riding Honda's since 1966. I presently have 1975 CB750, '78 CB550 (both restored to café racers), 2013 CB1100, 2013 F6B and 2012 Super Tenere. The Super T is getting a little tall for me as the golden years pass so I have been thinking the CTX1300 might be a good replacement for it................
Look forward to being a part of this site.

Welcome aboard @hondafreak. Interesting stable you got there. Love that cafe look on the older rides. ;)
very nice collection you have there. welcome to the forum!
welcome aboard Hondafreak. i'm doing a little research for my local police force, They'er looking at changing out their FJR1300s. How does the F6B handle in traffic and can it lane split if needed?
The F6 would be great for law enforcement (some agencies are already using). What makes it easy handling is the center of gravity is right under the seat and being some 65 pounds lighter than Goldwing also adds to better handling. The seat design makes for a better feel at slow speeds. As far as lane splitting is concerned not to sure since that is illegal in Texas but is no worse than Wing or Harley (officers with F6 used in funeral procession duty have no problem working their way around traffic). I added a top box to mine and it did not change any of the characteristics mentioned above.
Should have mentioned the downside to the F6B would be top speed, it is limited to about 124mph. But I think this is a trend for Honda because the CB1100 is limited to about 115mph.................I would not be surprised if the CTX1300 is much slower than ST1300.

I'm sure they'd find a way around that for police spec bikes. It's usually an electronic limitation that can be easily overridden if you know the coding in the ECU.

Honda has been doing a lot of that lately. I think their 1300 'custom' cruisers are limited to 100 mph. I'm well past the point that I need to go any faster than that, but it kinda sucks anyway. I have to wonder if there's any insurance benefit for that.
welcome aboard @hondafreak I'll gladly take those CBs off your hands if you need room in the stable AHAHA :D I've been looking for a clean CB the last couple of months now, want to spice it with a little cafe styling as well, single seater and a bashed in tank ya know ;)

anyways good to have ya!
Thanks for the warm welcome, fun to be here.
Check out F6B forum and you will see there are a couple guys there actively working on remapping the ECM, same thing at the CB1100 site(latest issue of Café Racer mag has article about CB1100 remapping)..........but I don't understand, if you want to go fast in the first place why not buy a sports bike........hey I like to tinker with my bikes but at my age speed is way behind me. Like I tell my friends good thing they didn't have fast sports bikes in the '60's I may not be here.
I'm thinking of selling my CB550, its time to move on to next project............I think the next cool old bike will be Honda CX500.

Oh, I don't know -- why do they race lawn tractors??? :p
There is a reason for fast lawn tractors.........you can cut the grass quickly and get out of the sun :)
i saw a video that someone made of a lawn tractor with a motorcycle engine racing a super car, it smoked the supercar....sadly
I guess I shouldn't talk, I've spent some big bucks on the CB1100 to make it a bit faster and aerodynamic.

You're missing the key element here -- it's to cut the grass more quickly than the guy next door. ;)

That is one sharp looking scoot.
Thanks, finding after market stuff for the new CB isn't easy and its expensive. You won't find much for parts in the US, all the stuff I have is from Japan. Once the CTX gets going I bet finding after market goodies will be a long wait.
