Things went well at welders. $30 to put a new tab on was quote. Then all I need to do is shot a little paint on it. Its worth the risk rather than ordering the China ones. I got the wife to sit on the bike for me and see the issue with that design only leaving heel room on rear peg. She would probably make put a different peg setup on there for her 3 times a year. Fingers crossed it turns out good.

If I’m not mistaken Charlie’s original version mirrored the angle of the side case but interfered with a passengers leg or foot placement on the peg. So he revamped it to the more vertical version for more passenger leg/foot room on the peg.

I had the wife sit on the bike. No doubt the old version (China copied) only leaves room for heal on the oem peg before the back of ankle would touch the bar.

Got the replaced foot, bracket, plate or whatever you want to call the part with two bolt holes. Picture of raw replacement. Showed it 5 minutes of love with flapped sand paper disk on grinder to polish a bit. Repainted both sides completely as got a few scratches at the welding shop and didn't want a spot repaired paint job. Drying for a day before installing but looking good. $28 to the welder and some paint on the shelf and should now be as strong as when new.

For those who are interested, there are other companies making these now, just not sure the quality versus Charlie's bars, which actually saved my saddlebags in a slow speed road drop, which he says he doesn't even design them to do, but they were that good.

On the bike I just bought some of Charlie's bars saved a previous owner. I have no idea of what happened however bike went over hard enough to put a little scrape where bar met concrete. No big deal just a shot of paint if that was the end of the story, BUT....on top rear bolt the bracket part cracked.

I sent Charlie an email with pictures but a few posts make me think he's busy with life beyond these and was hoping someone had a right on laying around.

As luck would have it my dusty old wire welder I thought I would never need was sold a couple months ago to clean out the garage, so maybe off to welder if no one can help.
