Didn't see any threads here so thought I'd start one. This is what I reported earlier on another post from an email I received this morning from Storm Lake Honda. One of the bigger dealers in Iowa. This one is in west central Iowa.

... Just received email from the dealer and they are quoting their outright price of $15900 for a CTX1300D (deluxe) in gray/blue metallic. And they also said they have one (1) Deluxe model in that color due to arrive in March. Hmmmmmm.
Then in a followup email I received this info:
I was not sure what they meant by "outright price" so I asked. That is their OTD pricing including dealer prep and destination. He said only extras are tax-title-registration (as expected).
Also looked up the directions to their store from my home and they are 2-1/2 hours away (farther than I thought). I tried finding any mention of the CTX1300 on the local Honda dealers web site here in the Des Moines metro area but they don't show it or mention anything about it like Storm Lake Honda does. No link to use to request a quote from the local dealer either. I may be visiting them soon anyway so will have to ask about it and will report back here if I do.

If that ends up to be accurate and the standard model is $1000 less, I think that seems a lot more reasonable than the $17K-$18K I had heard about previously. Please let us know if you find out any more info!

Based on MSRP (17499 vs. 15999 MSRP) the standard model should be $1500 less... even better yet!
Considering contacting more dealers within 200 miles of me to get quotes. Maybe we can start a bidding war? :D

Only emailed Storm Lake H. I am guessing the other CTX1300 they'll get is likely a red standard model. I am debating right now about taking my ST1100 in to the local dealer today for a coolant leak issue or fixing it myself. If I take it in I plan to talk to them about the CTX.

Plan to email some of the other dealers in the area tonight.

What more do you get with the deluxe version of the CTX1300? What does that $1,500 actually get you?

I do agree that this number is much nicer than the $17,000+ price that I've seen floating around.
From the Honda site:
... and the CTX1300 Deluxe, with Bluetooth® Audio, anti-lock brakes, self-cancelling turn signals, traction control and a blacked-out look.

personally I am only interested in the ABS and TC. Don't really care about the other stuff but they are nice bonuses. I've noticed the price difference of about that much on just ABS for other comparably priced bikes. Currently NADA shows the pricing on the 2010 ST1300 (only year NADA shows pricing for both with/without ABS) is $1200 more with ABS. I would expect the new price diff to be more than the used price diff so i consider the price diff for a deluxe CTX13 to be about right.

Just checked on the 2012 GW also with and without ABS and the price difference there was also $1200 so looks like that's the going rate for Honda to add ABS to the bike. Didn't see anything on TC pricing also but don't think it would take much more than programming and a link to the engine torque controller since it uses most of the same sensors and modulator as the ABS per World.Honda.com diagram at this LINKY:

ABS is a bit over $4000 on a Gold Wing.
Base bike $23,990
ABS bike $28,100

You have to overpay for the horrible GPS to get ABS.

I was comparing NADA pricing for 2012 new with all the same features otherwise to get just the difference of having ABS or not. What Honda pricing is will be different for 2014 models and will likely include the up-charges for all the other garbage thrown in for that model. I still say $1500 extra is not outside what I would expect for both ABS and TC with a few bonus extras thrown in regardless of the value of those extras.

IMO that $1500 is worth it, im the type of person that rather spends the bit extra to get the full experience.
I'm usually the opposite -- I try to get the 'experience' for as cheap as I can, as I've always thought of the extra stuff as just fluff. Where there's a standard vs. ABS or Deluxe version, I've always gone with the standard, at least as far as my bikes go. But this time I'm thinking I like everything in the Deluxe package enough that I might have to spring for it. Especially if it's metallic blue/gray with the black-out treatment. :D

I guess I'm weird. I wanted the Deluxe for all of the "little" features--the Bluetooth, the self-canceling turn signals (I keep forgetting to cancel them and look like an idiot), the blacked-out look. Of course those are probably not worth $1500, but then I get ABS and TC. Those are two things I have not had on any of my bikes so far, so I didn't really know what they will do for me. From what I've read they are worth having.

Nothing weird about that. ;)

I've never had TCS, but I have ABS for the first time on the Thunderbird. Kind of a bit of a jolt when it first kicks in, but then there's like this instant sense of confidence that you know your back end most likely isn't going to wash out on you no matter how hard you mash that pedal.

I used to like a controlled back wheel lock-up so I could watch the look on cagers faces after they pull out in front of me as I slide up to their door with the tire screeching. But now the wife comes with me a lot more, and I'm not a kid any more, so I'll take solace in that extra bit of safety technology when I can. :)
