And what about you?

Also sad to hear about the Wing. Good to hear you can find a good price less than a day-ride away. :)

I also ended up going a little distance for the best price in the area. Ride home ended up being actually about 3.5 hours (guy & his gf who took me to the dealer had to stop a lot). Was a very nice ride home... other than a horrendous wind. But the CTX can handle it with ease :D

Agree that the shorty screen just isn't for everyone. I would be fine with it for just around town riding in nicer weather, but not so much for longer rides and LD trips. I really like the Honda tall shield. Unlike most factory tall screens this one really works well, I think, for most riders. I was thinking of a deflector for the shorty but I like the looks of the Honda tall screen better than an add-on screen with brackets. I know that functionally those would likely provide more options for riders of different sizes but this screen is really well done. I suppose for taller riders there would be more wind on the helmet with the Honda tall screen but I only get smooth wind on the top of my helmet, just at or above the visor. I am still able to see well over it too. I also have a very slight breeze from the vents to relieve any vacuum behind the screen which reduces buffeting from back pressure and there is a little wind pressure, again not buffeting but smooth pressure, on my sides from the air stream coming in from under/around the handlebars and mirrors. I really like it. It is easy to put on but not so easy that I will be changing it out on a whim for the day. I haven't decided if I'll put the shorty back on between my trips or not.

Sorry to hear about your Gold Wing. Like many I had to go 3 hours out to get a CTX, you will love it and the 3 hour ride will be a blessing.

So far the CTX1300 has exceeded expectations ,,EXCEPT for the windscreen, That little thing is a joke.. As soon as my insurance check clears this week I will ordering something to take its place. plus a cruise control,,SPOILED<
Glad you're enjoying it. I've never had cruise on a bike, so I guess I just don't know what I'm missing. But then I've had it on most of my cars, and I barely use it there, either.

The shorty wind screen I found ok, and it probably could have lived with it if I had to. But the tall shield does make a world of difference, and I'm definitely glad I got it. I'm sure you'll find the same. ;)

I remember a bit about when I was riding my GW. As I've mentioned in this forum a few times I've been looking for a bike that was just like a GW without all the bulk. I believe I've found it! All kinds of memories of riding the Wing are coming back. The good ones. Like how comfortable it is when going down the highway. Like how easily it gets going without any effort! And I get the bonus of having a more nimble bike that gets really good mpg. And that's just a start. I'll have more after this weekend trip to Wisconsin :D

The CTX meets my needs better than the Gold Wing did. I tend to ride solo, so I don't need all that extra size for carrying a passenger and all her stuff.

The CTX is actually better on the highway. It is less affected by cross winds and trucks. It is far better in tight spaces. In a parking lot it feels just as long as the Wing, but it handles much better.

The only real negative for the CTX is the lack of cruise control on the highway. It is far too easy for the speed to creep up on you until you are in danger of getting a ticket.

If my 2012 Wing hadn't been killed by a deer, I'd still be happily riding it today. But I'm very happy with the CTX and I'm beginning to think it's the best bike I've ever owned.

Now have over 1000 miles on CTX. My 2012 wing was my 10th wing. Interspersed with a BMW here and there. I had not realized how heavy and awkward the old wing had gotten as Honda kept adding weight to the old girl until I got this bike.. I feel like I have been rejuvenated. It is nimble ,quick, handles the slab perfectly and better mpg for the long multi thousand mile trips. I am in love again!!!!

Me too, though for slightly different reasons. I've never owned a Wing, but I've had a bunch of different cruisers, a couple of ST's and a VFR that convinced me I that I really didn't want a sport tourer. But I've always loved Honda's V-4's. This bike has definitely rekindled my joy of riding.
