Wish it was in English, thanks for posting this, can any new owners share how easy and common it is to scrape the bike in the twistees thanks Jim

 

Haven't scraped them yet ... but I do plan on trying as I get more comfortable on it. There's a short stretch of road that bypasses a miserable traffic light that has a nice left-right S curve in it. That's where I scuffed up most of the sidewalls on my VFR back when I was a little more nuts. With my wife on the back, even.

There was a time when I had the VTX1800 that I didn't consider the ride complete until I scraped both pegs at least once. In fact I did it so regularly, I bought some titanium hex screws, drilled and tapped the bottom of the Kury pegs and threaded them in. Used to crack my buddy up when he was riding behind me and I'd drag them. That got a little expensive, though -- those screws were $12 a pop.

Anyway, the point of this was, I can pretty much tell already that it's gonna take a little more effort to scrape the CTX's pegs.

 

To each his own - but all that scraping seems kind of gratuitous. Like reviewing a Cadillac Escalade and squealing the tires around a racetrack during the review.

Kind of annoying when a reviewer rides a CTX as if he is on a CBR100RR or something. Not exactly sure that was Honda's design vision, but again, to each his own.

 

+1 on the pretending the Caddie is a "sports" car. There are a lot of reviewers who are really sport bike or sport touring bike fans, and try to force the CTX1300 into those categories or compare it to those. Will have to wait until later to see the video (no YouTube at work). While it is at the sporty end of a custom touring-cruiser crossover, it is not a sport bike and it is not (really) a cruiser in the classic sense.

 

Thanks Ed You ride a little more aggressively than me. $12 a pop that would add up after awhile. Not understanding what he was saying on the video and then constantly hearing and seeing the scraping I was wondering if there was a complaint about the ctx1300. Any bike I have owned has been capable of scraping in the tight turns. Anyway sounds like the CTX1300 is a hit, not surprised and looking forward to a test ride.. Cheers Jim

 

Jim, I've actually toned it down in my old age. But every once in awhile......

 

My German is rather rusty, but basically that guy's opinion was that the CTX700N was way closer to the CTX concept than the CTX1300 because of:
1) Lack of DCT on the latter
2) Audio control buttons not on the handlebars on the 1300
3) Pockets too small and hard to get a hand into on the 1300
(i.e. basically princess stuff)

He also mentioned that the CTX700N was way more fun to ride (as depicted in the video, I'm sure) than the CTX1300.

To each his own, but I doubt his competency in reviewing the CTX1300 which, in plain English, was never meant to be a bike for kiddies.
